Case Management Of Domestic Filings - FAQ

 

1. Q. Under Case Management, how long do I have to wait before my divorce is heard?
A. The Case Management program sets "formal" cases down for a hearing in 77 days and contested cases within approximately 182 days.

2. Q. As an attorney/pro se litigant what is required at each court event?
A. All requirements of attorneys/pro Se litigants under the Domestic Case Management Tracking system appear on the "Contested Track Notice" form, the Case Management Conference Order form, and Family Court Administrative Order 96-3.
3. Q. May I petition the court for an expedited hearing if my case becomes formal?
A. Yes. The parties may request an expedited date from the judge assigned to their case.
4. Q. Is the filing of motions permissible to be scheduled between court events?
A. Yes. Motions may be filed from the date of the filing of the divorce complaint through the "closure date" assigned to each case. Motions scheduled after the closure date may be done so by Court Order.
